Guide to cleaning fibre samples before posting to Australia

Australia has conditions on the entry of raw fibre samples. These conditions are specified by the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS).

In the main, fibre samples sent to Australia need to be free of contaminants such as seeds, faeces and vegetation.

To meet current conditions, all fibre samples should be shaken for about 5 to 10 seconds in warm water with laundry detergent, and then rinsed in clear warm water.

Any foreign matter such as faeces, seed, grass etc should be removed.

A completed Import Declaration should be included with the samples.
